August 25,2020 –BizJournals.com
Cargo declines at the Port of Baltimore appear to be leveling off after taking huge hits earlier this spring due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The port handled 844,024 tons of general cargo in July, down 12.2% from the same month last year, according to new data released by the Maryland Ports Administration on Monday. But that decline is significantly better than the 24.4% year-over-year decline reported in May and a 17.4% drop logged in June. Total cargo also increased 15% from June to July, though it is still down 11.7% through July compared to 2019.
